For many years, I followed the path the world told me I should take.
I graduated high school. I worked my way through college. It took me nearly ten years to earn my bachelor's degree, but I did it. I continued climbing the ladder in my corporate career, checking off all the boxes that were supposed to lead to fulfillment and success.
Yet deep down, something never felt quite right.
I was grateful for the opportunities God had given me, but I often felt disconnected from the life I was living. It seemed as though I was helping build everyone else's dreams while slowly losing sight of the person God had created me to be.
Looking back now, I can see that God was gently nudging my heart all along.
He was planting desires, stirring passions, and placing dreams within me that didn't fit neatly into the world's definition of success. But for a long time, I ignored those nudges because they felt impractical, uncertain, and even a little scary.
It wasn't until my early thirties that I truly began asking deeper questions.
Who am I?
What has God uniquely created me for?
What kind of life am I being called to build?
As I spent more time in prayer and reflection, I began to notice patterns. The things that brought me joy. The activities that made me lose track of time. The dreams that continued resurfacing no matter how often I pushed them aside.
I realized that God had woven these desires into my heart for a reason.
He was calling me back to the creative, curious, and faith-filled girl He had created me to be.
The girl who loved creating with her hands.
The girl who dreamed big.
The girl who believed that God could do extraordinary things through ordinary people.
Stepping into that calling hasn't been easy. In many ways, it feels like swimming against the current of culture. The world often tells us to pursue security, comfort, and approval. But God's path frequently requires faith, surrender, and trust.
There are days when I feel uncertain.
Days when I wonder if I'm making the right decisions.
Days when fear whispers that I should stay where it's safe.
But every time I bring those fears to God, He reminds me that obedience is more important than certainty.
We don't need to have the entire plan figured out. We simply need to take the next step He places before us.
Maybe you've felt that same stirring in your heart.
Perhaps God has been calling you toward something, but fear, doubt, or the expectations of others have kept you from moving forward.
Friend, if God placed that desire in your heart, don't ignore it.
Spend time with Him. Pray. Listen. Seek His wisdom.
The life God has designed for you may not look like everyone else's, and that's okay.
You weren't created to become who the world expects you to be.
You were created to become the woman God designed you to be.
And there is no greater place to be than walking faithfully in His purpose for your life.
Reflection Questions
- What dreams or desires has God placed on your heart?
- Where have you been seeking the world's approval more than God's direction?
- What is one small step of faith God may be asking you to take today?
Prayer for Alignment with God's Will
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for creating me with purpose and intention. Forgive me for the times I have followed the expectations of the world instead of seeking Your direction. Help me to recognize the unique calling You have placed on my life and give me the courage to walk in obedience, even when the path feels uncertain.
Align my heart with Your will. Remove the fear, doubt, and distractions that keep me from becoming the woman You created me to be. Teach me to trust You one step at a time and remind me that Your plans for me are always good.
May my life bring glory to You in all that I do.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
